Do you Tweet? Some of you do, some of you don’t…. some of you only when you’re in the airport! Anyway, this email isn’t really to sell you on the idea or not. However, I did want to make you aware of something regarding Twitter and our Quiet Time.
Are you aware that you can subscribe to a Twitter feed and have a link to each day’s QT automatically Tweeted to you that day? And, in one of several versions! Not everyone Tweets, but those that do, seem to find this as a helpful reminder to get their Quiet Time done. Now, it’s not an all in one solution (that’s coming next fall with our Online Quiet Time Web App). All this does is point you to the right passage. You still need to get out your diary, fill it in, do your prayer journal, etc. However, it’s one step that may help remind the tech savvy to put priority on the Word. I know it’s a great reminder for me. To find out more, visit – http://quiettimediary.com/content/twitter
Now, as great as all that sounds, I haven’t even told you the best part! The best part is that people are Tweeting what they got out of their Quiet Time. Just a short sentence or two describing how God’s Word impacted them that day. And, they’re using a special tool called a hashtag. A hashtag is simply a # sign in front of a keyword. The Quiet Time hash tag is #wolqt. So, everyone who tweets their quiet time and uses that hashtag gets assembled together all on one page. So, effectively, you can read through a list of what people all around the world are getting out of their Quiet Time for today. If you use a Twitter app such as TweetDeck, you can create a feed on the hashtag #wolqt and you’ll see an automatic list each day of what people are getting from their Quiet Time. If you do not use twitter NOT TO WORRY. You can still see what others are writing by visiting this website (bookmark it!) http://twitter.com/#search?q=wolqt Below is a screen snapshot of some of the comments today. When you go to that website, you can even subscribe to it by RSS if you wish. Now, if you want to contribute to the conversation, you’ll have to get a Twitter Account.
So, that brings us back to the start. Do you Tweet? If not, you might think about it. Sharing your Quiet Time each day has never been so fun…. Or insightful. Thanks for checking it out.
